"Perfection is the enemy of the good."
Oui, oui, Voltaire. And yet here I am, procrastinating once again—holiday decorations still boxed up, the vacuum untouched, snowy winter walks not yet taken.
Meanwhile, life moves on. Today, we learned that Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX) lives in a memory care residence and hasn’t voted in six months. We send our wishes of comfort to her and her loved ones. Hemingway’s words from The Sun Also Rises echo: “Two ways: gradually and then suddenly.”
In hospice care, I’ve seen families rally around their loved ones, postponing end-of-life planning until it’s too late. Gradually, then suddenly.
"There's such a need for proactive planning for end-of-life care, but some form of inertia prevents many from doing the things that must be done. It’s a long and hard process, but it’s definitely necessary, definitely doable, and made so much easier with a guide.” R Scott
